By Horace Palacio: Residents and visitors alike in Belize are advised to keep their umbrellas handy as the National Meteorological Service of Belize forecasts a day of cloudy spells with intermittent showers and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms. The latest weather update issued at 6:00 AM this morning predicts a continuation of relatively moist conditions prevailing over the area.

According to forecaster Francisca Wellington, coastal regions are expected to experience a few showers and isolated thunderstorms both this morning and later tonight. Inland areas are not to be left out of the wet conditions, as they too are forecasted to see similar weather patterns this afternoon.

Sailors and fishermen operating in Belizean waters can expect light and variable winds, with no specific speed noted. The sea state is predicted to be slight, with wave heights ranging between 1 and 3 feet—conditions that are generally considered favorable for marine activities.

As for temperatures, it’s going to be a warm day in most parts of Belize. Coastal areas will see temperatures between 79°F (26°C) and 90°F (32°C). Inland areas are expected to be even warmer with highs reaching up to 95°F (35°C) and lows at 72°F (22°C). However, the hills offer some respite from the heat, with a cooler temperature range of 68°F (20°C) to 82°F (28°C).

Tidal movements indicate a low tide at 11:16 AM followed by a high tide at 6:07 PM today. Another low tide is expected at 9:42 PM, and the next high tide will be at 4:18 AM tomorrow. The sun rose at 5:41 AM and is expected to set at 5:47 PM, giving the day just over 12 hours of daylight. For those interested in lunar activities, the moon will rise at 1:22 PM today and will set at 12:32 AM tomorrow.

The general outlook for Sunday and Sunday night is for similar weather conditions to persist. With no drastic changes expected, residents might want to make the most of indoor activities or be prepared for sudden showers if they plan to be outdoors.

As always, the National Meteorological Service of Belize urges everyone to stay updated with the latest weather reports and take necessary precautions for their safety and well-being.
