By Horace Palacio: A calm morning sky welcomed Belizeans today, with the National Meteorological Service of Belize confirming a light and somewhat moist airflow prevailing over the area. While the day promises generous sunlit moments, a few fleeting cloudy spells won’t be far behind, painting a picturesque canvas across the Belizean skies.

Today’s forecast indicates that by tonight, Belizeans can anticipate a shift, with skies becoming partly cloudy and, at intervals, leaning towards a denser cloud cover. While the morning remains primarily isolated from any shower activities, residents may want to keep their umbrellas handy for the inland afternoon thunderstorms.

The coastal areas, especially the northern sections, should be on the lookout tonight and into tomorrow, as sporadic showers and thunderstorms are anticipated to grace the regions.

For sailors and fishermen, the sea conditions seem to be in their favor. The sea state is described as slight, with gentle waves measuring between 1 to 3 feet. Initially, the winds will be light and variable but are expected to shift and come from the East to Southeast, blowing at a speed of 5-10 knots.

Temperature-wise, the coastal areas are expected to range between a warm 91°F (33°C) and a cooler 80°F (27°C). Inland regions, particularly during the daytime, will feel the tropical warmth at around 96°F (36°C), cooling down to 74°F (23°C) by nighttime. For those in the hills, temperatures will be a tad cooler, oscillating between 83°F (28°C) and 68°F (20°C).

The tides will see a low at 12:30 PM, reaching its peak by 7:05 PM. Another low is expected at 11:15 PM, with the subsequent high predicted for 5:47 AM tomorrow.

As the country welcomes another sunrise at 5:41 AM and bids adieu to the sun at 5:47 PM, moon gazers can anticipate the moonrise later in the afternoon at 2:20 PM and the moonset early tomorrow at 1:38 AM.

Looking ahead, the outlook for Monday and Monday night promises fair weather during the day, with only the odd shower or thunderstorm. However, as night approaches, there could be a surge in showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Residents and tourists alike are advised to stay updated with the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions when planning their day.
