Belize welcomes El Salvador’s Minister of Agriculture and delegation; farm tours scheduled

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, Jose Mai welcomed El Salvador’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Lic. Oscar Enrique Guardado Calderon and the Director of Agriculture of El Salvador, the Director of Research and Development, the Director of Policy, the Director for Agricultural Education and the Ambassador of El Salvador to Belize, Graciela Marina Perez Zeledon.

Minister Calderon is in Belize for a 2-day visit which includes meeting with Minister Mai, Belize’s Chief Agriculture Officer Victoriano Pascual, Policy director, Greg Canto and senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture Belize.

During the 2-day visit, Minister Calderon is scheduled to tour farms and discuss importation of vegetables, grains, including corn, soybeans and small red pinto beans.

The Ministers will also share agricultural experiences and discuss an agriculture cooperation program.

This morning, Ministers Mai and Calderon are attending a Ministry of Agriculture senior manager meeting.

Following the meeting, the Ministers will tour the T.K.O. Sour sop farm in Teakettle.

In Spanish Lookout, Minister Calderon will visit the BELCAR facility and meet with David Reimer at BEL CAR and Grain Producers/Exporters,

Minister Calderon is also scheduled to visit Valley of Peace Farmers in Valley of Peace.
