International News: Journalist murdered in attack aimed at police in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Journalist Jesús Gutiérrez who ran Notiface Prensa Digital De San Luis was murdered during an attack aimed at the police in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico.

According to the Associated Press, Gutiérrez was apparently caught in the cross-fire of an attack aimed at police.

He was reportedly speaking to the police officers, who were his neighbors, when they were hit by a hail of gunfire, killing one policeman and wounding the other three.

San Luis Rio Colorado is located across from Yuma, Arizona.

The town is best known as a border town where Americans go for inexpensive prescriptions and dental work. But it has increasingly been hit by drug cartel violence.

Mexico has become one of the deadliest places in the world for journalists outside a war zone.
