Minister Andre Perez may need to refund September salary

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, Andre Perez, who is currently on leave after scandalous accusations were levelled against him, may need to refund his last salary because he was supposed to be on unpaid leave, according to the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister John Briceño was asked about it by the media and Monday and said that the Cabinet Secretary will likely have to speak to Perez about refunding the money he received because a decision had been taken and was not to receive pay. According to Briceño, the decision was not properly relayed down the chain of command.

had initially indicated Perez was being placed on an unpaid leave in the wake of the scandal involving a woman from Caye Caulker. Several weeks later, however, a leaked payslip showed that Perez was, in fact, still receiving his usual salary. Cabinet Secretary Stuart Leslie later explained that he had failed to inform the Finance Officer of Perez’s unpaid leave.
