International News: More than 100 dead and 150 more injured after fire rips through wedding celebration in Iraq

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Authorities in Iraq confirmed the deaths of 113 people and said that 150 people were also injured in a fire that ripped through a wedding celebration.

The fire commenced just before 11 last night and engulfed a wedding hall where the celebration was happening.

Officials are investigating whether fireworks could have caused the deadly fire. Fireworks are often used in wedding celebrations and reports say that about 1,000 people were at the wedding hall when the fire began.

Iraq’s Health ministry representative Saif al-Badr said that the ministry is providing relief to all those affected.

According to Aljazeera, funerals are being held today for the victims.

Mourning family members have gathered outside a morgue in Mosul.
