By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Cabinet met during its regular session on Tuesday and discussed the Belize Rural Electrification Project, including the inauguration of a new micro-grid.
This is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics and E-Governance.
The micro-grid will serve 400 customers in the villages of Indian Creek, Medina Bank, and Golden Stream. Additionally, Cabinet was informed of the expansion of electricity to the villages of Corazon Creek, Jalacte, San Benito Poite, San Vicente, San Carlos and Indian Church and is scheduled for 2024.
Cabinet also took note of the progress being made with the Pilot Project for Electronic Vehicle Technology to develop an enabling environment to support the accelerated penetration of electric vehicles in Belize.
