Class of ’73 Gives Back: Sacred Heart College Alumni partners with Green Iguana Project to fund scholarship

This past weekend, the group commemorated their 50th graduation anniversary with a heartwarming reunion, but it wasn’t just about reminiscing about the past. True to the values of their Alma Mater, they made the event an occasion of giving back to the community.

In a gesture of generosity and forward-thinking, the Class of ’73 joined forces with the renowned Green Iguana Project to provide a two-year scholarship to an exceptionally deserving young student. Ms. Briana Cano of Santa Familia was selected as the lucky recipient.

Ms. Cano, a bright and ambitious student, is currently attending the Eden SDA High School in Santa Elena, Cayo. The scholarship will cover her educational expenses for the next two years, ensuring that she continues her education without any financial hurdles.

“It’s truly an honor and a privilege to be selected. I can’t express how grateful I am to the Class of ’73 and the Green Iguana Project for this incredible opportunity,” shared an emotional Briana during the ceremony.

The collaboration between the alumni and the Green Iguana Project is symbolic in more ways than one. The Green Iguana Project is well-known in the region for its dedication to the conservation of the Green Iguana species and educating the public about these iconic reptiles. By sponsoring the scholarship, the project not only reaffirms its commitment to environmental awareness but also highlights the importance of education and community empowerment.
