Mother of 8 month old baby fined $600 for trafficking quarter pound of weed

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Mahognay Heights mother of an 8 month old baby currently still breast feeding was find $600 today after pleading guilty to trafficking over a quarter pound of marijuana.

Nio Clother was arraigned in court this morning on a charge of drug trafficking after police on operation in Mahogany Heights executed a search warrant at her home on September 27 and found 117.6 grams of weed in a plastic bag inside one of the rooms.

She wasted no time in pleading guilty and since it was her first conviction for a drug related offence, and saving the court the time of trial; the Magistrate imposed a non-custodial sentence and applied a fine of $600 plus $5 cost of court.

She must pay the fine by January 31, 2024, in default, three months in prison.
