By Breaking Belize News Staff: A towering teen, standing at 6’10”, who was charged back in May for allegedly assaulting his own brother with a gun, is out on $4,000 bail.
Devon Humes, who has been on remand at the Belize Central Prison, for four months appeared in court today, where attorney Hubert Elrington made an application for bail on his behalf. There was no objection to bail as Humes has no prior convictions and is a first time offender.
Bail was set at $4,000 plus one surety of the same amount due to the nature of the crime, being an assault with a firearm and given that the gun was illegal and unregistered. As conditions of his bail, he had to relinquish travel documents, he must report to the police station once a week and must not get into any more trouble.
His brother has since moved from the house where the alleged assault happened. He is due back in court on December 20.
