Belize Weather: Rain continues to start weekend but begins to taper off

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Moist and unstable conditions linger over our area according to the National Meteorological Service’s forecast, but a decrease in moisture is expected later today.

Over the next 24 hours, skies will be sunny with cloudy spells and cloudy at times tonight; a few showers, thunderstorms or periods of light rain will affect mainly southern and inland areas this morning, becoming generally isolated this afternoon.

High temperatures peak at 88 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast; 94 degrees over inland areas and 81 degrees in the hills. Tonight’s low temperatures will be 79 degrees along the coast, 73 degrees inland and 68 degrees in the hills.

Winds will be easterly at five to 15 knots and sea conditions slight, waves running at one to three feet tall.

There is a strong thunderstorm watch in effect this morning for thunderstorms that may be accompanied by heavy rain, intense lightning and damaging winds over southern districts.

High tide occurs at 10:42 this morning and 10:28 tonight and low tide at 4:37 this afternoon. The sun sets at 5:42 this evening and rises at 5:42 Sunday morning.

For Sunday, expect partly cloudy skies with generally isolated showers or thunderstorms.
