By Breaking Belize News Staff: Nearly 30 years after the murder of rap icon Tupac Shakur, a former gang leader, Duane “Keffe D” Davis, 60, has been charged with his 1996 murder in Las Vegas.
Shakur was killed at the age of 25 in a drive-by in Las Vegas. According to police, Davis planned the shooting after his nephew was involved in a fight with Shakur and a group of other men in a casino before a Mike Tyson fight.
Davis was arrested near his Las Vegas home on Friday and will appear in court in the next few days. A retired Los Angeles police detective told the Associated press that, “All other direct conspirators are all dead.”
Davis is alleged to be a former leader of South Side Compton Crips street gang and it is claimed he was the “on-ground, site commander” who ordered 2pac’s death.
Las Vegas police said their persistence in the investigation ultimately paid off. The breakthrough in the case came after new information came to light in 2018.
2pac is a global icon in rmusic and has sold more than 75 million records worldwide.
