Micro-Grid to provide electricity to over 400 families in rural areas in Punta Gorda

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Minister of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics and E-Governance, Michel Chebat says that next month, the Government will inaugurate for the first time ever a micro-grid.

The microgrid will provide 400 families in rural areas in Punta Gorda with electricity.

“We have about 27 villages across the country who don’t have access to electricity. And so the Belize Rural Electrification Project is aimed at correcting that. We have a microgrid that we’re going to be inaugurating on the 12th of October in the village of Indian Creek. And that is going to be serving 400 families,” Chebat said.

In addition, Chebat noted that the Ministry is seeking to install microgrids in the villages of San Benito Poite, Jalacte, and San Carlos.
