By Aaron Humes: Surveillance cameras in the John Smith Link Road area are believed to have played a significant role in the arrests of two men for the murder of David “Goofy” Philips last week.
We understand that from the video police traced the vehicle reportedly used in the incident and identified the suspects: 37-year-old Jerdene Eton Jorgenson, and 45-year-old Lloyd Anthony Burgess, who they have since formally arrested and jointly charged.
Phillips was bludgeoned to death with a cement block and his body was left inside an unfinished concrete building at a construction site on John Smith Road near its intersection with the George Price Highway.
Police had vowed to line the road with cameras as its reputation grows as a site for dumping dead bodies and other crimes.
