Police look to quell ‘rivalry’ in P.G. after second shooting incident in a month

By Aaron Humes: Punta Gorda Town and the wider Toledo District are not known for violence of any kind, but there have been two shooting incidents in a month in the southernmost town which would be seen as alarming by residents.

This time, the victim is one Danny Martinez, 46, who was shot on West Street in town on Friday. According to Police: β€œInformation is that he walking when he was approached by a male person on a motorcycle who fired several shots towards his direction. He is in a stable condition at the hospital and an investigation into this matter continues.”

With information from Martinez, police have taken one person into custody. As for a motive, police said today that they have information that there are rivalries within Punta Gorda, so they are doing their best to try and address this situation.
