Man who allegedly broke into his common-law-wife’s house and threatened step-son remanded to prison

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Maskall Village resident Milton Reyes, 49 was remanded to the Belize Central Prison today for allegedly breaking into his common-law-wife’s home, stealing from his step-son and threatening him.

Reyes appeared in court on Wednesday unrepresented and was read a single charge of burglary.

According to reports, on October 8, he trespassed as the home of his common-law wife and stole something from her son valued at $150. In court, however, his step-son showed up requesting that the charge against Reyes be dismissed. Upon further probing, the court decided against withdrawing the charge because the step-son claims he was threatened by Reyes.

Reyes, however, claimed that his step-son fabricated the allegations and further told the court that despite their ups and downs, he and his common-law wife are still together though they live in separate houses. Reyes reportedly lives a block away from the woman and her son, so bail was denied to Reyes in the first instant and he was remanded to prison until October 30.
