By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two Mexican nationals, who allegedly stole two vehicles from Budget Auto Rentals in Belize City, were denied bail as they are considered flight risks and remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

Alejandro Jair Gonzalez Vasquez, 28, and Carlos Francisco Moralez, 37, appeared in court unrepresented on Wednesday. The men are accused of stealing a 2020 Kia Sorento and a 2022 Chevy Equinox, each valued at $60,000.

Vasquez was charged with two counts of theft. Moralez was charged with two counts of abetment for allegedly aiding Vasquez in stealing the two vehicles.

No plea was taken from the men as the prosecution indicated they are still awaiting advice on whether the case will be tried on indictment or summarily. The prosecution also indicated that the men were both flight risks as the only address they provided were both in Mexico. They were remanded to prison until October 23, their next court date.
