Teenager warned after being caught with blade

By Aaron Humes: Call center agent Christian Ramos, 19, was found in possession of a pocket knife with a cutting blade of eight inches, longer than the three inches which is allowed by law.

Ramos was charged but in court, he was given an official warning and discharged.

Police met Ramos on Albert Street on October 6 around 8:45 p.m. during a preventative crime patrol, when he and another man faced away from them as they approached.

He told the court he had gone fishing, but that the officers he met took his fishing line and threw it away. He had thought they would let it go as he was not aware that it is an offense to carry around a knife longer than three inches after 8 p.m. in the evening. He could have been sentenced to a fine of up to $500 or jail time.
