International Archeology Day to be celebrated at Lamanai Archeological Reserve

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Institute of Archaeology (NICH) Belize will be celebrating International Archaeology Day on October 20, 2023 with a variety of activities at the Lamanai Archeological Reserve.

NICH Belize will be joined by partners including the Institute for Social & Cultural Research (ISCR), Protected Areas Conservation Trust, Belize National Biodiversity Office, Belize Forest Department, Friends for Conservation and Development, Belize Department of the Environment – DOE, Lamanai Outpost Lodge, U Chan Muul Yaax K’aax, Jorge de Leon, Galen University’s Anthropology Club, Taiwan in Belize, and Banquitas House of Culture (NICH) and many others.

Activities for International Archeology Day include Lamanai Site tour by the Institute of Archaeology, Pok Ta Pok display by the Yo Creek Sak Xikin team, Educational archaeological and cultural booths and Ecological tours.

It kicks off at 10 a.m. on October 20!
