Belize take on Turks and Caicos Islands twice at month’s end in Concacaf Women’s Nations League

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After winning their first two games in the Concacaf Women’s Nations League, the Concacaf W Road to Gold championship, the Belize Women’s National Football Team (BWNT) will be playing Turks and Caicos Islands twice at month’s end in Group A of Concacaf League C.

The first game is set for October 26 at the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association National Academy at Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 26.

Bonaire will host Aruba that day at the Stadion Antonio Trenidat in Rincón, Bonaire.

Belize will then host Turks and Caicos Islands at the FFB Stadium at 7:30 pm at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan on Monday, October 30. That day, Aruba will host Bonaire at the Complejo Deportivo Guillermo Prospero Trinidad in Oranjestad, Aruba.

The BWNT lead Group A with six points from two wins followed by Aruba with three points and Bonaire and Turks and Caicos Islands with one point each.

The BWNT won the first two matches. On September 21, the BWNT beat Aruba 2-0 at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan 2-0 on goals by Mikhaila Bowden (65’) and Sabrina Eiley (90’+1). Then, the BWNT defeated Bonaire 3-0 at the FFB Stadium on September 25. Bowden (34’) scored the opener followed by The BWNT were led by Khalydia Velasquez who scored a brace (48’, 64’) after Bowden broke the deadlock scoring the opener in the 34th minute.

Bonaire drew 0-0 at home against Turks and Caicos Islands on September 21 and Aruba ran over Turks and Caicos Islands 5-0 on September 25 at Turks and Caicos.

While the countries in League A are playing to go to the next Gold Cup, the teams on Leagues B and C are playing to get promoted to the higher level leagues with the hopes of one day making it to the Concacaf W Gold Cup.
