Belize Women’s National Football Team arrive well in Turks and Caicos Islands for Thursday’s Concacaf Women’s Nations League match

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Women’s National Football Team (BWNT) flew into Turks and Caicos Islands at midday today for their match on Thursday, October 26, against Turks and Caicos Islands in Group A of Concacaf League C.

According to the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) Technical Director, the BWNT arrived at 1:55 pm TCI time (11:55 am Belize time) on Tuesday after leaving Belize on Monday.

The BWNT will tackle Turks and Caicos Islands on Thursday at 2:00 pm at the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association National Academy at Providenciales in Turks and Caicos Islands.

At the moment, Belize sit stop Group A in the Concacaf Women’s Nations League, the Concacaf W Road to Gold Cup championship, with six points after winning their first two matches. The BWNT first dispatched Aruba 2-0 on September 21 at the FFB Stadium and then dropped Bonaire 3-0 on September 25 also at the FFB Stadium.

Belize are followed by Aruba with three points. Bonaire and Turks and Caicos Islands have one point each.

In the other group match on Thursday, Bonaire will host Aruba at the Stadion Antonio Trenidat in Rincón, Bonaire.

After the match, the BWNT both teams will fly to Belize for the return match at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan at 7:30 pm on Monday, October 30. Aruba will host Bonaire at the Complejo Deportivo Guillermo Prospero Trinidad in Oranjestad, Aruba on Monday as well.

Mikhaila Bowden (65’) and captain Sabrina Eiley (90’+1) led Belize in their 2-0 win over Aruba on Independence Day, September 21. Four days later, on September 25, Bowden (34’) scored again, hitting the opener in the 3-0 win over Bonaire 3-0. Khalydia Velasquez (48’, 64’) finished off Bonaire with a brace.

Bonaire and Turks and Caicos Islands earned their points when they drew 0-0 in Rincón on September 21 while Aruba got their three points when they ran over Turks and Caicos Islands 5-0 on September 25 at Providenciales.

The BWNT are hoping to win the group to get promoted to the Concacaf League B, which would put them closer to their goal of being promoted to League A which will give them a shot at qualifying it to the Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup.
