By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize canoeing team is now on their way for Santiago, capital of Chile, to compete in the Pan American Games in Chile.

Belize is represented by Avis Guydis, Diana Velasquez, and Amado Cruz. They are accompanied by coach Chris Guydis and the president of the Belize Canoe Association (BCA) Elvin Penner.

“Excitement is in the air as our Canoe team embarks on the first leg of their journey to the Pan American Games in Chile,” the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (BOCGA) said in a social media post.

“The Belizean spirit is ready to shine on the international stage, and we couldn’t be prouder. Safe travels, team!”

“One of the only sports in the history of Belize to qualify back to back for the Pan American Games,” the Belize Canoe Association said in a post of their own.

The canoe sprints at Santiago 2023 will be held from Wednesday, November 1, to Saturday, November 4.
