Second Road Safety Project launched in Belize City

Posted: Wednesday, October 25, 2023. 9:22 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On October 24, 2023, the Belize City Council joined Minister Kareem Musa, CEO Dr. Osmond Martinez, CEO Adele Catzim-Sanchez, Ines Paquiul of the Ministry of Education, Principal Avril Arthurs and YOURS Executive Director Raquel Barrios at the Second Road Safety Project’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The initiative, funded by the Government of Belize in collaboration with the Caribbean Development Bank and executed through the Ministry of Economic Development, signifies a significant step towards safer streets and a secure future for our community.

“One of the project’s achievements is the creation of a new “Safe School Zone” for the Buttonwood Bay Nazarene Primary School which demonstrates our commitment to prioritizing the well-being of our students. The newly implemented zone brings infrastructure improvements around the school, inching us closer to ensuring that children can go to school and return home without encountering unnecessary dangers,” the Belize City Council noted.

The Belize City Council reminded that safety is a shared responsibility.

“As parents, educators, and community members, we must all actively participate in this mission,” the Belize City Council added.

The Belize City Council thanked the Government of Belize specifically the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Education, the Caribbean Development Bank, YOURS, Amend, and everyone who has contributed to the success of this project.
