By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Women’s National Football Team (BWNT) completed one of their best, if not the best, international performances ever routing Turks and Caicos Islands 6-0 in their own backyard in the Concacaf Women’s Nations League C.

Ashley Rodriguez scored Belize’s sixth goal of the match in the 77th minute, the fourth in the second half.

Defender Mihkaila Bowden headed in her second goal of the match in the 67th minute; her fourth in the regional championship.

Captain Sabrina Eiley had made it 4-0 in the 54th, five minutes after Shamika Lambey shook the net in the 49th to put Belize ahead 3-0.

The BWNT had attacked relentlessly in the first half but had only managed two goals.

Khalydia Velasquez got the second goal from open play in the 36th minute; her third goal in the competition.

Bowden scored the opener in the 11th minute from open play after TCI goalkeeper Eradannia Ortiz saved her penalty kick, but Belize’s scoring defender made good on the subsequent play.

Belize had earned the penalty kick after Chanile Butterfield cut down Velasquez in the penalty box in the 10th minute.

Belize secured their third consecutive victory in Group A and now lead with nine points on the road to getting promoted to League B.

The match was played at the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association National Academy in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, under the officiating of referee Danielle Chesky of the United States.

Coach Wayne Casimiro’s starting 11 comprises Jasmin Armstrong (1) in goal; Shadette Lino (3), Mikhaila Bowden (4), Shamika Lambey (15), and Vailene Lambert in defence; Ashley Rodriguez (6), captain Sabrina Eiley (8), Roshanny Narvaez (9), and Jennisha Scott (18) in midfield, and Khalydia Velasquez (10) and Tamara Baptist(14) as forwards.
