Belize City man admits to stealing garbage drum for someone else

Posted: Monday, October 30, 2023. 9:54 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: He says it wasn’t intentional, but 35-year-old Justin Goff of Marigold Lane, Belize City, owned up to dishonestly possessing a blue plastic drug used as a garbage container and was fined for it.

Goff admitted to removing the $80 item from in front of the residence of Stuart Fairweather on Friday, October 27, and pleaded guilty. He said it was not intentional though he knew it wasn’t his, but he had intended to give it to a lady he said he worked for who he claims had misplaced hers.

Goff has several other charges before the court but this is his first conviction so he was spared prison time, instead being fined $300 and cost of court by December 29. In default, he would serve two months behind bars.

Fairweather reported to police that he was on his veranda when he noticed the missing drum, and when he checked his surveillance cameras, he recognized Goff taking it away. Police later saw when Goff passed by the Mahogany Street Police Sub-Station and he was detained and subsequently charged.
