By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Three  Belize Women’s National Team (BWNT) players have been selected for the Concacaf Best XI for the October window just like in the September window.

According to Concacaf, were left centre-back Mikhaila Bowden, left winger Vaylene Lambert, and right offensive midfielder Ashley Rodríguez were the very best in their positions during the October matches played in the Concacaf Nations League C, known as the W Concacaf Road to Gold.

“Our Ladies keep on doing an amazing job at representing Belize,” the FFB said in a social media post.

“Congratulations ladies and Congratulations team Belize.”Belize beat Turks and Caicos Islands 6-0 on October 26 at Turks and Caicos Islands and then blanked them 3-0 in Belize on October 30.

The trio were instrumental in Belize’s wins over the Caribbean side. Mikhaila Bowden scored a brace against Turks and Caicos while Rodríguez hammered in one in the 6-0 away win.

Though Bowden is a defender she is forever present in Belize attacks, particularly set pieces. She’s scored four goals so far, two in the September window and two in October. Last month she punished Turks and Caicos Islands twice in the 6-0 win.

“It was another two wins for Belize, as they now have four victories from four games, with Bowden contributing two goals and an assist,” Concacaf said.

Rodríguez is ever-present in Belize offensive drives. She scored Belize’s last goal against Turks and Caicos in the 6-0 win.

“Rodriguez was a menace in the two games against Turks and Caicos Islands with a goal and an assist and nine shots taken,” Concacaf said.

Lambert is a force to contend with in Belize’s defense.

“Lambert played an important role in both Belize clean sheet wins against Turks and Caicos Islands and had an assist as well,” Concacaf wrote.

For Bowden, this was her second consecutive month in the top Concacaf team. Last month, she made the September Best XI along with goalkeeper Idania Ramirez and right forward Khalydia Velasquez. Despite Ramirez’s outstanding performance in the September window, in October coach Wayne Casimiro opted for goalkeeper Jasmin Armstrong who also kept Belize’s goal with a perfect clean slate.

Bowden and Rodríguez were joined by goalkeeper Anais Hatchi of Guadeloupe; defenders Jade Thelamour of the Bahamas and Madison Roy of the US Virgin Islands; midfielders Nathaniela Emerenciana of Bonaire, Jessica Alvarez of Cuba, and Sadeyah Rosa of Curacao; and forwards Bonny Lammers of Aruba and Cecil Aldana of Cuba.

Belize currently lead Group A with 12 points and only need a draw to clinch the top spot to qualify for League B. Belize will play Bonaire and Aruba in November and December respectively.
