By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The St. Martin’s Government School Feeding Kitchen in Belmopan was inaugurated on Wednesday. The school feeding kitchen seeks to provide healthy meals to the school’s students to help address the challenges of hunger and malnutrition.

The school feeding kitchen is funded through the Mesoamerica Hunger Free Project under the Mexican Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AMEXCID) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in conjunction with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE), with the objective of improving food security and nutrition in the region.

The project hopes to make a positive difference in the lives of the schoolchildren, by ensuring that they have access to nutritious food that supports their health and education.

“The St. Martin’s Government School Feeding Kitchen represents a collaborative effort to ensure that schoolchildren in the region have access to nutritious meals, promoting their well-being and educational success” MAFSE said in a statement posted on social media.

“The support of AMEXCID-FAO Mesoamerica Hunger Free Project and the Ministry of Agriculture underscores the importance of addressing food security and nutrition, and this project is a vital step in that direction.”
