By Aaron Humes: The BBC reports that former partners and entertainers Sean “Diddy” Combs and Casandra “Cassie” Ventura have agreed to settle a legal case she filed on Thursday of this week, charging rape and sex trafficking.
A joint statement from the pair on Friday announced the agreement without disclosing details. Ventura was quoted as stating that she “decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans, and lawyers for their unwavering support.” Combs added, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”
In filing the lawsuit Ventura claimed to have been trapped for a decade by former boyfriend and boss Combs in a cycle of abuse and violence, while he hit back saying she was trying to extort him.
Charges and countercharges of rape, serial domestic abuse, intoxication to drugs and alcohol, extortion, and blackmail flew between the pair’s attorneys Douglas Wigdor for Ventura and Benjamin Brafman for Combs in the hours before the settlement was agreed. But Wigdor in confirming the settlement said, “I am very proud of Ms Ventura for having the strength to go public with her lawsuit. She ought to be commended for doing so.”
