By Aaron Humes: In his sixth professional fight, Belize City resident Amir Rudon scored a knockout over visiting Mexican challenger Gaspar Gomez.
The contest was for the Belize Boxing Development Council’s (BBDC) lightweight championship and the men put on a show at Swift Hall Saturday night for the relatively short time they were in the ring.
Rudon, nicknamed “Kingmir,” used one of the most devastating attacks in boxing, a left hook to the abdomen in the region of the liver, to put Gomez of Chetumal, alias “Tremendo,” on his back at one minute, 26 seconds of the third round.
A winded Gomez could not answer the ten count and the celebrations began with fans at ringside.
Gomez moves to 6-0 and continues his march to what he says will be his ultimate destiny, being the true champion of the world in Belizean colors.
