By Aaron Humes: A property sale may have ignited a dispute between two men and as a result one of the participants ended up in court to answer to a criminal charge for assaulting a man allegedly with a machete.
Retiree, Nathaniel Alexander Bowen McDonald, 64, of Antelope Street, is charged with aggravated assault upon Anthony Perry Sr., with a deadly instrument, to wit, a machete, on Wednesday, November 22. He pleaded not guilty.
Perry Sr. reported to police that he visited Antelope Street along with the niece of McDonald as he was in the process of purchasing a property when he was attacked for no reason explained to the court.
The Senior Magistrate offered bail to McDonald of $1,000 plus one surety of the same amount which he met. He is not to interfere with Perry Sr. or any of his family members or any other prosecution witnesses; he is also to stay 25 yards away from Perry, and he is not to be arrested and charged with any other offenses while out on bail or his bail could be revoked.
McDonald was able to post bail and is due back in court on January 24, 2024.
