Four close friends from Roaring Creek perish in Hummingbird traffic accident

Posted: Sunday, November 26, 2023. 11:51 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: The village of Roaring Creek, Cayo District, is in mourning today after four men died in a tragic late-evening traffic accident on the Hummingbird Highway.

A fifth occupant, a minor, is in critical condition and was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for treatment.

The group was heading home to Roaring Creek from a construction site in the south. As they were passing the St. Herman’s Blue Hole National Park, their vehicle suddenly flipped and some of the occupants were flung from the vehicle.

Three of the occupants, namely, Sherwin Garbutt, Edwin Brown, and Timothy Reyes were the first reported deaths at the scene.

The other occupants, including Delwin Armstrong, were rushed to the Western Regional Hospital for treatment. Armstrong, however, died shortly after.

Investigations into the cause of the accident continue.
