By Aaron Humes: A detective constable has been charged with use of threatening words, discharging a firearm in public, damage to property, and possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol following an incident in Ladyville on Saturday night.
A Lords’ Bank resident told police investigators that he was refueling his vehicle at the Shell Ladyville gas station when he was approached by two men, one of them a police officer from Ladyville identified as Christon Arnold, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
The officer allegedly fired a single shot to the left side front tire, causing it to burst.
Other police were called in, reportedly including a very senior police officer, who took possession of the officer’s loaded nine-millimeter pistol.
Arnold has been confirmed to face both disciplinary and criminal charges but the nature of the incident was not discussed beyond there being an apparent verbal dispute.
