By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Port Layola’s Gilroy ‘Bredda’ Thurton scored a hat trick in his teams 8-4 win over Wagiya to lead all the Premier League of Belize goalscorers during the last weekend of the regular season of the 2023-24 Opening Championship.
His teammate Latrell Middleton scored two while Wagiya’s Ghanaian Kofi Nnadi also netted a brace.
Progresso beat Benque Viejo United 2-1 and qualified to the playoffs along with Altitude who drew 0-0 with champions Verdes.
Verdes will play Altitude again this coming Saturday in Independence as the semifinals get underway, while Progresso will host Port Layola in Orange Walk.
