By Aaron Humes: This morning in Belmopan, various Christian churches and believers gathered at the National Assembly Building in Belmopan to pray for peace in Israel and Palestine and also for Belize.
A statement explains, “All of us want this war and the dying to end! These are all people that Jesus Christ died for! The Bible says that “God is not wanting anyone to perish, but all to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)”
While the churches continue to ask the Government “to reconsider diplomatic relations with Israel,” they are clear that today’s event is not a protest, not an “anti-“ event, and is not intended to provoke or antagonize: “If it is a “demonstration,” we desire it to be a demonstration of God’s power and love!”
The statement concludes, “As Biblical believers, we believe that Israel has the right to exist, and to defend their existence. And we stand in support of Israel, coupled together with praying for the peace and stability of the whole region. In Christ, Palestinian Christians join hands in prayer with Jewish Christians – we are adding our faith and prayer to theirs!”
The rally comes a week after the March for Palestine held in downtown Belize City.
