Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government hosts national stakeholder workshop

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today marks an important juncture in Belize’s efforts of promoting decent work practices.

“Decent Work Country Program for Belize: National Stakeholder Workshop,” is a 3-day event.

The workshop is being conducted by the International Labour Organization (ILO) Caribbean Office in partnership with the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government.

The sessions will be facilitated by consultants from Ergon Associates.

The formulation of a new decent work country programme requires a collaborative effort, drawing on the expertise, insights, and experiences of all stakeholders involved.

“Today’s official opening demonstrates our collective commitment to building an inclusive and equitable work environment that aligns with international labour standards while also addressing the emerging challenges of the modern labour market,” the Ministry noted.

The workshop also includes key government stakeholders, the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), and the National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB) and other stakeholders.
