Under 20 Belize Men’s National Team to play 4 international friendly matches against Honduras, Guatemala

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Under 20 Belize Men’s National Team (U20 BMNT) are playing four international games, two against Honduras, two against Guatemala, in preparation for the Concacaf Under 20 Qualifiers that will be held in Nicaragua next February.

To that end, the U20 BMNT traveled to Honduras on Monday to play the first two games. The U20 BMNT went by boat to Puerto Cortés from where they took a bus to San Pedro Sula.

The U20 BMNT are playing the U20 Honduras Men’s National Team (u20 HMNT) at the Olympic Stadium in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on Tuesday. They will then play a second game against the U20 HMNT on Thursday, November 30, at Casa de la H, the Honduran National Team facilities in Siguatepeque.

In December, the U20 BMNT will be traveling to Guatemala City to play against the U20 Guatemala Men’s National Team (U20 GMNT) at the Guatemalan Football Federation facilities on the 12^th and 14^th.

So far, the U20 BMNT have been whittled down to 20 players from an original set of 40 who were called to training a couple months ago. The U20 BMNT are playing under the guidance of head coach Dale Pelayo.

The Concacaf U20 Qualifiers will be held in Managua, Nicaragua at the National Stadium from February 23 to March 3. Belize have been drawn into Group A along with Nicaragua, Cuba. British Virgin Islands, and Anguilla.
