By Rubén Morales Iglesias: A new $18.5 million credit line for Belizean students and the agricultural and industrial sectors was launched today by the Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
According to the Government of Belize Press Office, the credit line aims to provide financial support to individuals who face challenges in accessing tertiary-level education, as well as to small farmers and micro-, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the agriculture and industrial sectors.
The credit line consists of US$6 million for student loans and US$12.5 million for the agriculture and industrial sectors.
“This partnership between the Government of Belize, CDB, and DFC helps to ensure Belize’s economic growth through improving the labour force, economic opportunities, and enhancing the quality of life of Belizeans,” the GOB Press Office said.
