Six Brazilians busted illegally in Belize in jail pending deportation

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Six Brazilian nationals busted in Belize illegally are on remand at the Belize Central Prison until they are to be extradited back to their home country.

Carl Osman Miranda Dos Reis, 56 ; Luciano De Oliveira Alves, 53; Marcos Vinicios Braz Da Silva, 27; Rafael Moreira Gomes De Araujo, 28; Simone Miranda  Verissimo Da Silva, 35;  and Lia Cristina Santos Oliveira, 42 all appeared in court on Tuesday unrepresented. They were each read a charge of illegal entry.

The group allegedly crossed over into Belize illegally from the banks of the Mopan river on November 27. They were all given a non custodial sentence and fined $1,000 plus $5 cost of court, and ordered to pay forthwith or spend 6 months in prison.

A removal order was granted a the request of the Immigration Department. The group was busted aboard a Valencia bus passing through Hattieville.
