Dining out costs more with inflation rate at 13.7%

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: With the Christmas holidays swiftly approaching, many Belizeans are planning family Christmas socials or family dining nights.

But, dining at restaurants appear costly especially since there is an 13% inflation rate.

Data from the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) showed that the overall Restaurants and Accommodation Services had an inflation rate of 13.7 percent for the month of October 2023, reflecting higher prices for restaurant and cafe services.

In addition, the overall food category for food products registered an inflation rate of 11.7% for October 2023.

Prices across all types of food products are still considerably higher than they were during the same month of last year.
