By Rubén Morales Iglesias: First form students at Escuela Secundaria Técnica México in San Roman, Corozal learnt about grafting from a Sembrando Vida technical officer on Tuesday.

“Today, our bright minds got a hands-on lesson in plant propagation,” Escuela Secundaria Técnica México said in a social media post.

“They had an amazing visit from a Sembrando Vida Project technical officer, who showed them the art of grafting in avocado and mango trees.

“Currently exploring asexual reproduction, our students dove into the world of artificial propagation through grafting. This hands-on experience helps students develop grafting skills!

Judging by the photographs posted by the school, the students enjoyed the practical activity and gained valuable skills in plant propagation.

The Sembrando Vida-Belize is a project by the Mexican government that is assisting 2,000 Belizean small farmers. The project aims to improve the social welfare of the farmers by providing them with technical assistance and agricultural/financial support so they can improve productivity and create income generation. The project also promotes sustainable agricultural practices and environmental conservation.
