Michael “Chucky” Baptist Jr., 27, found guilty of dangerous harm on his former stepfather

By Aaron Humes: In a trial by jury, six women and three men delivered a unanimous guilty verdict after three hours, three minutes deliberation on Thursday in the case of Michael Baptist Jr., aka “Chucky”, 27, who was accused of stabbing up his ex-step father, Eugene “Fat Back” Webster, 57.

Baptist was tried before High Court Justice Nigel Pilgrim and the jury for the past week and will be sentenced on January 30, 2024. He was accused of stabbing Webster as many as 27 times to the body in July of 2016.

Webster testified in court that the younger man visited his home to wash his car but was told that the car had already been washed and he could go back home.

According to Webster, he gave him bus money to go home but Baptist returned asking to spend the night, to which he agreed. He said only they were there and before going to sleep that night, he secured his home properly.

He was therefore surprised at 2 a.m. the next morning, July 6, to be awakened by someone looming over him and inflicting stab wounds to the body. He recognized Baptist making the stabbing motions to his neck, causing blood to gush out.

According to Webster, he was stabbed to the left side of the neck, head, right side of his face, left side of his face, upper right arm, chest area and left foot near the bone area.

In his trial, Baptist Jr., was represented by attorney Norman Moore.
