Mayan Man close Under 19 with perfect 4-0 record in SSBA’s Champions for Climate Change Basketball Tournament on Friday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The final regular season games in 17th annual San Ignacio & Santa Elena Basketball Association’s (SSBA) Champions for Climate Change Basketball Tournament were played on Friday night, at the Victor Galvez Stadium in San Ignacio. Those games set the final playoff spots in place.

Before the Playoffs on Sunday, but the SSBA features All Star Night Fundraiser for a Christmas Toy Drive on SaturdayThe show is to include a Three-Point Shootout Contest at 7:00 pm, followed by two friendly games featuring Educators vs. Community Workers and Artists vs. Influencers.

These are Friday night’s results:

(Under 11): Game 1 – St. Martin’s Credit Union 12-10 Recino’s Imports

St. Martin’s Credit Union finished the regular season as the number 1 seed with a 4-0 record and will play #2 Recino’s Imports for the championship.

(Under 16): Game 2 – CK Restaurant 41-24 Hode’s Restaurant

CK Restaurant clinched the #1 seed  and bye to the finals by winning their last game over Hode’s Restaurant.  Number # HL’s Furniture will play #3 Hode’s Restaurant for a shot to the face CK Restaurant again, but this time in the final.

(Under 19): Game 3 — Mayan Man 48-25 Misfits

Mayan Man had already clinched the #1 seed in their division. They just improved their record to 4-0 while Misfits fell to 0-4.

(Over 35):    Game 4 — BVO Masters 54-32 Belmopan

BVO Masters improved to a 2-2 record and clinched the #3 seed by beating Belmopan who fell to 0-4.

(Seniors):    Game 5 — Invaders vs Blazing Tigers [Play-In Game] – Blazing Tigers didn’t show  up

Group 1’s fourth seeded Invaders had to play Group 2’s fifth place Blazing Tigers but the Tigers were a no-show, so Invaders advanced to the playoffs.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY SCHEDULES

Saturday, December 2 – All Star Night as a Fundraiser for a Christmas Toy Drive

7:00 p.m.: Three-Point Shootout Contest [$10 to Enter and $100 Cash Prize]

7:30 p.m.: Game 1 – Educators vs. Community Workers

9:00 p.m.: Game 2 – Artists vs. Influencers

Sunday, December 3 – Playoff Starts Today

1:00 p.m. (Under 13): Game 1 – Trin’s Deli vs. Electrolit

1:30 p.m. (Under 19): Game 2 – Mayan Man vs. Tigers

2:15 p.m. (Over 35):    Game 3 — Miss N Ketch vs. BVO Masters/Belmopan

3:15 p.m. (Under 19): Game 4 — Misfits vs. Vegan Roots Brotherhood

4:15 p.m. (Under 19): Game 5 — Young Rooks vs. Sacred Heart College

5:15 p.m. (Seniors):  Game 6 – Vegan Roots Brotherhood vs. Belmopan Thunder
