UNICEF Belize and CEMO collaborate for school outreach program 2024

Posted: Tuesday, December 5, 2023. 1:06 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: UNICEF Belize is providing 400 child friendly awareness materials on the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction to the City Emergency Management Organization (CEMO).

The materials will be used to enhance children’s participation in climate change awareness and disaster risk reduction (DRR) initiatives.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to community resilience, UNICEF is collaborating with CEMO to provide essential resources to integrate into the CEMO school outreach program for 2024,” UNICEF noted.

The aim of the program is to empower children to actively engage in understanding and addressing the challenges posed by climate change and natural disasters.

The initiative aligns with UNICEF’s shared vision of fostering a culture of preparedness and environmental stewardship among the younger generation.
