Gilroy Usher Jr. sees harm charge dropped

Posted: Wednesday, December 6, 2023. 6:59 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Businessman Gilroy Usher Jr., 42, of Mile 2, George Price Highway, the son of Minister of State Gilroy Usher Sr., has seen one of three criminal charges stemming from a family dispute dropped in court.

Usher Jr. appeared unrepresented before a Magistrate where he saw the charge of harm withdrawn against him for want of prosecution.

The complainant appeared personally in court to request no further court action against him, affirming that she was not coerced, threatened, pressured or bribed to do so.

Usher still faces charges of damage to property and threatening to cause damage to property and those cases are adjourned for April 5, 2024.

Those charges were leveled by the Minister of State in June following a family dispute.

Usher the younger was accused of damaging $20,000 worth of shutters and a glass door belonging to his father, while also reportedly threatening further damage to various properties connected with his father.
