Indigenous women complete “Expanding the Reach of Our Indigenous Women” Project

Posted: Saturday, December 9, 2023. 3:05 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On December 8, 2023, Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children Rossana Briceno attended the closing ceremony/graduation for the “Expanding the Reach of Our Indigenous Women” Project.

The project was the result of a collaborative effort between the Office of the Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children; the Taiwan Embassy, the Taiwan Technical Mission; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, and Immigration; the Ministry of Human Development, Families, and Indigenous People’s Affairs; and the Sarstoon Temash Institute for Indigenous Management (SATIIM).

Twenty Indigenous women from Santa Cruz Village and Punta Gorda Town received Technical and Vocational Skills Training in various topics aimed at unlocking their skillset and economic potential.

The Special Envoy emphasized that when women are given the right tools and resources, they become catalysts for positive transformation that contribute to their empowerment, as well as the upliftment of their families and communities.

“Therefore, with initiatives such as this, we are not only ensuring the promotion of equal opportunities for our Indigenous women but are also working towards a more just and prosperous nation for all,” the Special Envoy said.
