By Aaron Humes: According to police reports, a robbery took place at the UNO gas station located in the Dump area of the Toledo District on Saturday night.
The security guard on duty reported that at approximately 10:30 p.m., he was approached by five individuals, all armed with pistols, dressed in all-black attire with black knit hats covering their heads. They arrived in a silver-colored car bearing a Belize City license plate. The assailants demanded that he go behind the gas station, where they bound his feet and hands with zip ties and instructed him to lie down on the grass.
The perpetrators proceeded to the side entrance, forcibly damaging the padlock to gain access to the side office where the attendant was located. They subsequently restrained the attendant and forcibly damaged the padlock on the main entrance to gain entry to the main office. Inside, they thoroughly searched the cash drawer and made off with an undisclosed sum of money.
Before making their escape towards Bella Vista in their vehicle, the robbers assaulted both the security guard and the attendant using their handguns.
Police investigations into this incident are ongoing.
