Non-Government Organizations can now register using Online Business Registry System

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Last year, the Government of Belize through the Belize Companies and Corporate Affairs Registry (BCCAR) and the Financial Services Commission (FSC) launched the Online Business Registry System (OBRS).

All existing businesses were required to re-register using the website.

Now, the BCCAR announced that Non-Government Organisations (NGO) can be registered in the Online Business Registry System.

Key requirements include:

  1. NGOs must be registered as a Company by guarantee.
  2. Members must have a valid Social Security IDs if you are not using a Registered Agent.
  3. The aims, objects, and purposes of the Non-Governmental Organisation must be in line with sustainable human development in Belize as outlined in the NGO Act Cap. 315.
