Posted: Tuesday, December 12, 2023. 7:46 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Edwin Alfonso Jeronimo Ayala, a Guatemalan construction worker who claims to reside at an Antelope Street address, is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being busted with crack cocaine.

Ayala was arraigned in court on Wednesday charged with a single count of possession of a controlled substance. He was busted on December 10 in Hattieville with 1 gram of crack cocaine.

In court, however, he could not verify his legal status in Belize and was considered a flight risk so he was remanded to prison. He was told that a relative must appear in court on December 22 on his behalf to verify his legal status before bail may be granted to him.
