Bakers relent – bread price will not go up on Monday

Posted: Friday, December 15, 2023. 10:52 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: According to the Bakers Association, it has received commitments from Government to implement a subsidy program to help cover costs of making basic bread loaves and other products.

As a result, the cost of a 16-ounce loaf of bread sliced – $1.50 wholesale, $1.75 retail – will not rise as projected on Monday.

The bakers also say further discussions will be had on help for the vital industry.

Bakers had complained of the continuing rise of basic goods used to make bread including flour, LPG and so on.
