Murder in Belize City: 38-year-old Jorge Lozano of Leadership Intervention Unit dies of gunshot injuries

By Aaron Humes: Friday night shooting victim Jorge Lozano was pronounced dead at 9:00 this morning at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

Lozano, also known as Jorge Caceres, 38, was an employee of the Leadership Intervention Unit (LIU).

Sometime after six Friday evening, Lozano was on Madan Liz Avenue when he came under gunfire from a passing white car. Lozano, who is no stranger to police, suffered gunshots to his body and was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed this morning.

Police say the white car from which the shots reportedly came was captured on surveillance footage in the area, and this will assist in their investigations.

In 2015, Lozano was shot multiple times by two (2) assailants at a home in Lord’s Bank. During that shooting Lozano pretended to be dead when he rolled over and the gunman who he later identified then left the scene.
